Multilayer boards and single-layer boards are two types of circuit boards commonly used in the manufacture of electronic products. Although their basic functions are similar, there are some significant differences in the production process. Multilayer boards have higher complexity and functionality than single-layer boards. They consist of a plurality of layers of conductive and insulating layers, which are connected by through-vias. This enables the multilayer board to achieve a higher electrical connection density in a relatively small space, suitable for more complex electronic devices. In contrast, single-layer boards have only one conductive layer, which is suitable for simpler circuit designs.

Multi-layer boards have higher complexity and functionality than single-layer boards.
The production process of multilayer boards requires more process steps and technical requirements. In the manufacture of multilayer boards, we need to first design the hierarchical structure and wiring rules of the circuit board, and then press the conductive layers and insulating layers of different levels together through a precise lamination process. This process requires greater process control and precision to ensure accurate alignment and good signal transmission between the layers. In addition, the production of through holes is also an important step in the production of multilayer boards, which requires the use of advanced hole processing technologies, such as drilling, sinking gold and blind hole/cover hole technology.
Multi-layer board manufacturing also requires more inspection and testing steps. Due to the complexity of the multi-layer board, we need to carry out strict quality control in different manufacturing stages, including the level alignment inspection before lamination, the reliability test of the hole and the electrical performance test of the finished board. The purpose of these test steps is to ensure the quality and reliability of the multilayer board to meet customer needs.
Compared with this, the manufacturing process of the single-layer board is relatively simple. They usually only need to design the circuit wiring, and then through photolithography and etching and other process steps to produce a conductive layer, and finally surface treatment and inspection can be. Compared with multilayer boards, the manufacturing process of single-layer boards is faster and more direct.
